We specialise in the design, build and installation of bespoke willow hurdle fencing. Our fences are designed for maximum strength and durability whilst providing a sustainable fencing solution that looks stunning, blending into the natural environment instantly. Continuously woven in-situ, they offer a beautiful seemless alternative to hurdle panels, effortlessly following the curves and contours of the land.
We use concealed steel uprights for added robustness and longevity. No wood goes into the ground, giving the fence a healthy foundation. Built straight from the ground or from the top of a wall, willow fencing is very versatile.
In some instances a timber framed hurdle panel is the right design choice for the situation. Be it a bin screen or a boundary, these are an extremely robust option, completely encapsulating the weave within a strong & rigid timber frame, providing both elegance and durability. The uprights in these panels are usually timber and are built into the frame, top & bottom.
The advantage of a framed hurdle is that even when the strength of the willow has faded, the strong framework and uprights continue to maintain the intergrity of the willow thereby making it last much longer.
Framed Hurdle projects are often made in-situ as they are either very large, or have a complex arrangement. However, small panels can be made to order from our workshop.
We mostly use very local naturally durable sweet chestnut timber for our frames, felled & milled by us. Sometimes we can source oak, and occasionally we use treated softwood if that is what suits your sites aesthetic.
Every garden needs a gate, and every willow fence is complimented by a gate made to match. We make a range of garden gates from simple 'hurdle gates' to sophisticated timber framed gates - all with the common feature of having an attractive integral woven panel.
Just as with the framed hurdles above, the gate frames provide added strength and longevity to the weave, and all are designed to be re-woven when the willow needs refreshing!
Again, we mostly use our own locally sourced sweet chestnut & oak for our frames, which are beautifully crafted at our workshop using traditional mortice & tenon joints.
